Take part in Americas past in Modesto!

  • June 18, 2018

Summer’s dying down, but it’s still beautiful in California. If you’re trying to squeeze summer for everything’s it’s worth, take a trip to beautiful Patterson California, where the sun setting on fields of apricot trees makes for a beautiful and relaxing sight. Looking for something else to do?

MODESTO HISTORIC GRAFFTI CRUISE ROUTE

George Lucas’ original title for American Graffiti was Another Quiet Night in Modesto. Based in his hometown of nearby Modesto California, Lucas wanted to capture the excitement and nostalgia of the car cruising culture of his youth. It’s no wonder he changed the title; while Another Quiet Night in Modesto was maybe a more accurate title (if ironic – if you’ve seen the movie, you know it’s not that quiet!), American Graffiti does more to capture the youthful legacy of imagination and wonder in that time.
Now you can experience some of that wonder by taking part in the Modesto Historic Graffiti Cruise. This path through the city of Modesto traces the paths taken by cruising cars back in ’62, the year that inspired George Lucas’ famous movie.
While Berge’s Drive-In, the inspiration for Al’s in the movie, closed down years ago, you can still capture some of the spirit of the era at a very special A&W drive-in featuring music from the 50s and rollerskate server girls! Or take in a film at the State Theatre, which has been maintained to keep the dream of ’62 alive. Modern day Modesto takes pains to combine the best of the present with the past, making it a perfect destination for anyone looking to re-experience the golden days of America in a gorgeous setting.
If you’re looking to experience the Modesto Historic Graffiti Cruise, stay at the Best Western Plus Villa Del Lago. Minutes from Modesto, we offer unrivalled comfort at a great price in a truly breathtaking location. Book your room today!
